The Constitution Project: Yick Wo and the Equal Protection Clause, a documentary chronicling the landmark case Yick Wo v. Hopkins, in which the Supreme Court held that all persons had rights to equal protection under the 14th Amendment, has received a 2009 Bronze Telly Awards in the education and history/biography categories.
Also receiving a 2009 Bronze Telly is Sunnylands' FAQ: Juries, a series of short video segments featuring constitutional experts, lawyers and judges discussing the history and importance of juries and jury service. The video segments are part of the Sunnylands Juror Education Project, which offers high-quality multimedia education resources to potential jurors as they wait to perform jury service.
The Telly Awards honor high-quality local, regional and cable television commercials and programs, video and film productions, and Web materials. The Telly competition receives more than 13,000 entries each year from all over the world.
Earlier this year Yick Wo and the Equal Protection Clause also received a platinum Hermes award, recognizing excellence in quality, creativity and resourcefulness. The film, produced by the Documentary Group of New York for the Annenberg Foundation Trust at Sunnylands, is among four Sunnylands Trust films developed in 2009 for use in schools nationwide on Constitution Day 2009 and joins 10 films available on the Trust website.
